considering there is 'presently' only 3 Dullahans alive... the observation theory is quite specious in this circumstance. how would ANY human in history, perhaps a few thousand years of the 'mythological eras' in Ireland and other Celtic regions, SEE a Dullahan ever? even the Dullahans themselves would be a small number of SELF observers! if 'this world' of the show and manga has approx. 7 billion humans like 'our world' does today... that is an INFENTESIMAL percentage of the human population that are Dullahans. going back through those 'mythological eras' the human population would be thousands of times smaller and that percentage of humans that are Dullahans would be even smaller!

i posit a side hypothesis. the 'collective unconsciousness' is the source of the quantum observational acts in Dullahans. supposedly the mass of knowledge in humans is a 'group mind' that our conscious minds 'swim through' like a sea of information. we access this 'group mind' through our unconscious minds, dreams and such. so, the legends of Dullahans are observations by those tiny tiny TINY numbers of people who've seen even one; this would of course include the small numbers of Dullahans who have existed. those legends and personal experiences permeated the 'collective unconsciousness' and imprinted the knowledge and observations of Dullahans providing a quantum observation 'field' for any and all Dullahans that have ever or will ever exist.
